ACS Door Services Pty Ltd OH&S policy is to create and maintain a safe, healthy and productive workplace, environment and procedures for all persons at our places of work, without risk to their health, safety or welfare arising out of our workactivities.
The aim of this policy is to ensure that ACS Door Services Pty Ltd fulfil all the requirements of applicable Australian and International environmental Standards. We believe that sound environmental performance contributes to our competitive strength and benefits our customers, our employees and the wider community and that will conduct its business activities in ways that minimise our adverse impact on the environment. Our goal is to not only to meet but exceed the requirements of all applicable laws, regulations and standards relating to environmental protection.
To achieve our environmental goals we are committed to the principle of continual improvement and prevention of pollution. We have developed a framework to ensure that our activities and services comply with all applicable environmental standards and contribute to the wellbeing of the companies and communities in which we operate.
Our environmental policy will be communicated to all staff that they are involved in achieving our environmental objectives:
All staff have been involved in the development of this environmental policy and are aware of their requirement to work in accordance with the company’s environmental policies and procedures. As part of training, all participants are made aware of the obligations and responsibility of many environmental protection issues. The Management of ACS Door Services Pty Ltd is committed to promoting awareness among our employees of how their activities impact on the environment.
ACS Door Services Pty Ltd will design and select materials for installations that are suitable for the exact design requirement, and not excessive in materials. The criteria which will be considered in the assessment of new installations will include:
Water use licenses and disposal site permits will make provision for conditions which will ensure ACS Door Services Pty Ltd incrementally progresses towards predetermined water quality and waste management objectives within specified time frames.
ACS Door Services Pty Ltd is committed to reduce waste through minimisation strategies and recycling of materials where practical.
Recycling arrangements are in place for office paper, office cardboard and metals. We have demonstrated an ongoing reduction in volume of materials to landfill from our administrative operations.
Our service technicians constantly remove rubbish from site. The rubbish is in the form of plastic bags, bottles and paper. Rubbish removed is deposited into suitable containers and returned to the workshop where it is recycled or correctly disposed of.
All metals from dismantled or redundant equipment removed from building sites are returned to our workshop, stripped down, sorted into categories and collected for recycling. Ground pollution via waste to landfill is minimised through paper and metal recycling programs. Paper usage is minimised through the use of electronic communications andinformation management.
Company vehicles are regularly serviced and tuned to ensure engine emissions are kept to the required minimum and to maintain vehicle fuel efficiency. The deployment of company vehicles is closely monitored to help eliminate multiple vehicles being allocated to the same area. Vehicle maintenance is carried out by qualified companies or dealerships using responsible environmental practices for the discharge and disposal of effluent, oil and used materials. Vehicle selection criteria isreviewed regularly.
Material usage in construction projects is optimised by value engineering, pre fabrication and supplier practices monitored by our quality assurance system. Material usage on maintenance sites is minimised through good maintenance practices, increasingly equipment is being serviced as required by its condition rather than on a strict time scheduled basis, which usually results in less material usage. We actively promote improved maintenance approaches. Minor works are carried out based on effective planning and the application of identified procedures and practices to minimise the materials required and reduce the likelihood of rework and the use of further materials or service call outs.
Our procedures require us to review and manage allchemical usage. Dangerous goods legislation and compliance with the OH&S Act 2004 require good levels of management, documentation and training associated with chemical and hazardous substance usage. This process has seen a number of chemicals that have posed OH&S risks or environmental risks discontinued or better managed in their use.
In the office, lighting and business machines (Computers, photocopiers, printers, faxes, etc.) are turned off during non-business hours if appropriate, and where not appropriate machines with power saver modes are installed. Energy efficiency is a key factor taken into account when business machines are acquired. Office air conditioning and ventilation systems are time clock controlled to operate during business hours. Hot water in the kitchens is provided by boiling hot water taps. Energy usage is tracked via energy bills. Energy efficiency is discussed at a broader staff level to ensure compliance with environmental awareness throughout the company. Energy usage associated with sites/contracts is usually minimal and related to power tools and equipment.
Office: Water usage in our office in minimal. We have dual flush toilet cisterns and boiling hot water taps (instantaneous heaters) to minimise wastage. We have a number of strategies and practices in place to manage and minimise water usage for our sites and contracts. The great majority of water usage in mechanical building services is associated with cooling towers. On a number of sites water usage associated with cooling towers is actively tracked, analysed and reported on. This information is used to fine tune processes and systems and identify problems. We actively promote water conservation in cooling towers to our clients and the broader industry.
All aspects of our compliance with this industry-based OH&S Standard Policy will be constantly monitored with regular performance to review its effectiveness, and to ensure that Duty of Care where applicable to this policy, is correctly applied and adequately maintained.
As representative of its development and our mutual commitment, this policy is endorsed by:
